We are a registered charity covering Kingsbridge, Salcombe and surrounding area.
Our aim is to promote the independence, physical and mental well-being of older, isolated or vulnerable people living within Kingsbridge, Salcombe and the surrounding area, through the provision of services not normally available through statutory agencies.
Our services are delivered by a growing team of volunteers, keen to provide friendship and support to those who need it. Our volunteers have the opportunity of using their life skills and experiences, and finding fulfilment in making a difference.
Examples of support include
- companionship
- shopping
- transport to non medical appointments
- trips out for a cup of tea and change of scene
- accompanied transport to social activities
- carer relief
- signposting to other helpful organisations
The benefits of this service are improved sense of well-being and reduced feelings of isolation, together with preserving the person’s independence as long as possible, so delaying or avoiding the need for moving into a retirement home or become institutionalised.
Where Saltstone Caring are unable to help, we will always seek to signpost to other organisations that can provide the support required.
Our volunteers receive initial and on-going training and therefore improve their own skills and knowledge over time.
